Following The Savonarola Debate in 2008, Reveal Theatre continued its exploration of site specific documentary theatre.

Using first account testimony and verbatim, THEY CALLED IT PASSCHENDAELE? examined the Third Battle of Ypres- one of the bloodiest battle in the Great War.

Sean O’Callaghan, Dominic Meir and Kevin McGreevy recreated testimony at sites such as Hill 60 (pictured above), Tyne Cot Cemetery, Yorkshire Trench, Polygon Wood, Essex Farm and Caterpillar Crater.

Testimony came from Lt. Annan, Paul Nash, King George, Sassoon plus various soldiers serving between 1914 and 1918.

In association with Keele University and Creative Partnerships.
